Corpers end orientation programme
National
Youth Service Corps members posted to Nasarawa state have
completed their
three-week orientation programme held in Keffi. Addressing the corps members
at the camp closing ceremonies, Governor Abdullahi Adamu urged them to use
their skill to better the lot of the rural communities where they will be
deployed for their primary assignments. Governor Adamu informed the corps
members that the state was mainly rural and agrarian based, and so the corps
members will be called upon to exhibit their skill in various endeavours.
Governor Adamu used to the opportunity to commend the corps members for
their exemplary behaviour in the camp and said that they should continue
with such conduct in their assignments. Governor Adamu urged the management
of the service not to entertain any form of requests for reposting or
redeployment based on frivolous reasons of sentiments. He therefore urged
the corps members to serve the people of the state to the best of their
abilities.
Speaking
earlier, the Corps Director in the state, Mrs. P. Imohe, reported that the
corps members had been well prepared for their assignments in the rural
areas. She commended all those who visited them in the camp to lecture the
corps members and assured that the knowledge so gained will be used in their
interaction with the host communities.
The one-year service period is open to all university graduates who are
less than 30 years old. Members of the state executive council, permanent
secretaries and traditional rulers attended the closing ceremonies.
