Governor Adamu warns civil servants against
fraudulent practices
Governor Abdullahi Adamu has
taken a swipe at fraudulent practices in the state civil service and
warned civil servants that those who engage in such practices will not
be spared. Governor Adamu who was swearing-in a committee on the review
of the report the committee on salary verification in Nasarawa State
warned civil servants against such acts as the law will take its full
course on any person caught.
Governor Adamu seriously
frowned at a situation were civil servants looted the treasury of
millions of Naira every month through salary inflation, retention of
names of dead and retired persons in the pay roll and such practices. He
said these practices were a carry-over from the military era and that
despite efforts to stem it, a clique within the civil service was still
bent on perpetuating the act. He reminded the civil servants that
examples had being made of various civil servants, especially the
education secretaries whose appointments were terminated recently.
He then urged the committee to carry out its assignment with the highest
sense of purpose and duty. He said government was ready to implement all
its recommendations to stem this ugly trend.
Responding on behalf of the
committee, the Chairman, Mr. Nuhu Aboki pledged to do their very best
and stated that nobody will be spared if found guilty. He said the
committee would dig into all records and ensure justice. Other members
of the committee include Alhaji A. S Audi, Alh. Ibrahim Shehu and Mr.
Nawani Aboki who serves as secretary. Asmau Yusuf was attached to the
committee as Legal Adviser.
