GOVERNOR
ADAMU SIGNS SUPPLEMENTARY APPROPRIATION BILL
THE
NASARAWA State Government is to spend 23 million Naira in the remaining months
of this year for the development of the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS).
The
State Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu said the State House of Assembly has
since approved the amount to be spent on capital projects aimed at improving
services of the station.
Governor
Adamu was speaking after he signed into law the State Supplementary
Appropriation Bill of 2.763 billion Naira approved by the State House of
Assembly, which is 223 million Naira more than the original estimate presented
to the House by the state government.
It
would be recalled that Governor Adamu had on January 20, 2000 signed the State
Appropriation Bill of 4.423 billion Naira for the fiscal year 2000.
Governor
Adamu said the supplementary budget of 2.763 billion Naira would strengthen his
administration’s determination to pursue policies and programmes aimed at a
transformation of the four-year old State.
Since
he assumed office on May 29th 2000, Governor Adamu has made the
development of rural areas of the State to be his cardinal principle. Thus many
major and feeder roads have been constructed across the State in the past year
of Governor Adamu’s administration.
Similarly,
a number of Communities across the State have been provided with either
electricity or potable water. While in addition to a number of health centers
across the State, the Governor Adamu administration has ensured that all the 13
Local Government headquarters in the State have functional General Hospitals.
In
his remark at the occasion, the Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alh.
Musa Agyo commended the state government for its rural development programme.
Alh. Musa said the House of Assembly approved the supplementary budget after it
had carried out inspection visits to projects executed by the government, as
well as sites of those to be executed.
With
the signing of the supplementary appropriation bill, the total expenditure of
the State now stands at a total of 7.183 billion Naira.
