Remarks by Senator (Dr.) Abdullahi Adamu, CON, (Turakin Keffi) Chairman, All Progressives Congress on the Occasion of Conferment of National Productivity Order of Merit, State House Banquet Hall, Abuja, Thursday, 12th May, 2022
On behalf of all the awardees, I have the honour and privilege to express our gratitude to Mr. President, Commander-in-Chief for considering us worthy of the National Productivity Order of Merit award.
Mr. President, the awardees have asked me to extol your leadership qualities which have made us, and indeed all citizens of this great country to commit themselves to national growth and development. We are all inspired when we note that through your leadership, all indices of development in the past six years have continued to move in the positive direction in spite of global disruptions.
We note that under your administration, Nigeria has been able to create an enabling environment for investment confidence and the consequent inflow of foreign direct investment. We are gladdened to note the various infrastructural interventions which Mr. President’s administration has made in the public sector, particularly in the areas of human capital development, digital economy, agriculture, science and technology, as well as in communication, transport and the health sectors. These and other sectors have made significant contributions to our national economy.
I take liberty of my participation in the agricultural sector to commend the policies and programmes of Mr. President in bringing about an increase in agricultural productivity. One area of note is in rice production. We have recently witnessed the return of locally produced rice pyramids in the country which has saved the country millions of dollars which could have been used to import the commodity. The policies of Mr. President’s administration have also ensured that the private sector is involved in the agricultural value chain.
On behalf the recipients therefore, I salute Mr. President for providing leadership in various sectors of our national development. It is your leadership that has provided the impetus for us to give our best in supporting you in various areas of national development.
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment deserve our commendation. We are informed that the Ministry has raised the bar of scrutiny to receive this award that is like a camel passing through the eye of the needle. We are glad that todays’ awardees were able to successfully pass through the review process to receive the award. I assure Mr. President that the awardees will see the recognition as an impetus for better productivity. I believe I speak for all awardees when I say that we are spurred and inspired by the diligence and energy which Mr. President brings to everything he does. Mr. President, the awardees commit ourselves to continue to be driven by your leadership qualities as we seek to preserve your legacies
Your Excellencies, distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, as we receive these awards today, we commit ourselves to working harder towards national growth and development.
