Senator Abdullahi Adamu, (APC, Nasarawa West), has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy Professor Yemi Osinbajo on their victory at the Electoral Tribunal which sat in Abuja, Federal Capital Territory. The Tribunal affirmed their victory at the February 23, Presidential Election. Senator Adamu also urged the opposition to come to terms with the decision of the Tribunal and join hands with the president to move Nigeria forward. In a press statement congratulating President Buhari, he said:
“I, Senator (Dr.) Abdullahi Adamu, CON, Turakin Keffi, on behalf of my family, my associates, and all members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in my constituency hereby facilitate with our Leader President Buhari, GCFR, on his well-deserved victory at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Mr. President, your victory at the Tribunal yesterday is a clear testimony of the overwhelming mandate given to you by Nigerians in the Presidential election of February 23, 2019. Those of us who are your admirers savor this affirmation by the Tribunal so much, and we are filled with immense joy. I therefore use this opportunity to congratulate you, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, our National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party, the APC, as well as all other well-meaning citizens of our great country at home and abroad.
I am confident that with the exemplary leadership shown by Mr. President from his first term of four years to this moment, and with his unwavering commitment to the service of this Nation through the ideals of our great Party, the climax of this judicial exercise will usher in gigantic efforts towards achieving our overall objective of national rebirth, economic rejuvenation, and enhanced security and welfare for the teeming citizens of our country.
But while I congratulate Mr. President on this great victory, I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to accept the verdict of the Presidential election petition tribunal in good faith. We must always remember that power comes from God Almighty, and that as citizens, our Collective goal should always be to work together in harmony towards the overall growth and development of our country. We must all remember that the founding fathers of our Nation have tried hard to build and hand over a strong, united and peaceful country for us, notwithstanding their political differences. We must, therefore, try to overcome the pains that the 2019 electoral process may have thrown up in order to sustain the peace and unity that we have collectively enjoyed over the years. It is instructive to also remind us that such pains are a natural cause in a political process like this since only one out of two or more competing forces emerge victorious. We sincerely believe that God Almighty will heal the wounds therefrom.
I, thus, which to conclude by appealing once more to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and other members of the PDP to show deeper sense of commitment to the ideals of our founding fathers, and join hands with President Buhari, so that together we can realise our most important task ahead, which is building a greater Nation for ourselves and future generations of Nigerians. So help us God. Amin.”
